On Monday we were finally able to actually visit a remote rural school that we periodically support for the first time since 2020. Visiting Njokomalomo Basic School in Barotseland / Western Province involved a five hour drive from Livingstone over bad roads (and a flat tyre), crossing the Zambezi in a small boat and then an hour’s ride in an ox cart. Our trustees Joanne and John were joined by Sandra and Filip from Sonskyn (a Belgian non-profit that we have often partnered with) as well as Grace and Herbert from Nekacheya School. This is a very remote school with extremely limited resources. It was a great opportunity to tour the school, see books that we have previously donated and discuss their priorities. Uniform donations were also handed out.
