This is a rural school outside Livingstone that includes both a primary and a secondary school. Both locations function with a single stand pipe, the water coming from a bore hole and then being stored in a tank with an open top. Zambezi Sunrise have cooperated with our friends at True Thabo to provide a water purification system (including a water education package) for the school. The Lifestraw Community system requires no power, removes at least 99.99% of bacteria, viruses and protozoan parasites and can purify between 70,000 – 100,000 litres of water, enough to serve a school for several years. It prevents common waterborne diseases including cholera, dysentery, gastroenteritis, Hepatitis E and Typhoid Fever. True Thabo is an American non profit organisation committed to the provision of pure water to schools in Zambia. Zambezi Sunrise has also provided the school with materials to help with management support.
