We had a really special night last night as two of our trustees spoke in England’s highest market town to the ladies of Alston Women’s Institute in Cumbria. This was our first live talk to an organisation this year. It was actually a ‘return’ visit as Alston W.I. were the first to ask us to give a talk to them online last year. We were particularly delighted to see Josie Hind there, who has now made 1,210 of the bears we distribute in Zambia and that people name at our events to raise funds. This attracted attention from the BBC and foreign media last year. Alston W.I. presented Josie with a certificate in recognition of her efforts for charity (she has also made us hundreds of blankets, dresses, shorts, bunting and other toys). We would like to thank everyone at Alston W.I. for their very warm welcome and support. £265 was raised for Zambezi Sunrise – and 28 bears now have names or messages and are waiting to go to
Zambia!
