Day 7 of our trustees’ visit to Zambia began with a visit to the Royal Livingstone Express, a vintage luxury steam train that normally takes tourists on trips with fine dining to see the Victoria Falls. Sadly, this wasn’t to go on it! We were there to meet Mike McNamara, the General Manager, to finally thank him in person for taking over 100 children from Linda Community School on an excursion in late 2020 at a time when there were no tourists. It was a great day, involving a video link up with four of our supporting schools in the U.K., as well as Locomotion Museum in Shildon which has a sister train that used to run in Zambia. The children were very fortunate – the train was most recently used for a state dinner with the Presidents of Zambia and Rwanda! Thank you Bushtracks Africa!
