Here’s an unlikely, but happy, 2021 story.

In early 2020, just before the first U.K. lockdown, our trustee John visited Hesleden Primary School in County Durham, one of the schools that support us. He was given some school uniform to take out to Linda Community School in Livingstone, which has benefited from uniform donations from Hesleden in the past. Lockdown quickly set in, and the prospect of getting them and other donations to Zambia looked remote. However, at the end of 2020, Andrea Redder in Wiltshire got in touch to say that she had discovered Zambezi Sunrise, would be going to Zambia in January, and offered to help. A box of uniform, books and other items were duly sent to Andrea. She was able to fly to Zambia (it was then still possible) and was staying near Kazungula, about 40 miles (65 km) from Livingstone. She was eventually able to meet up with head teacher Cathy and hand over the donations which were distributed to children that needed them. We didn’t think we’d see this in 2021!

Huge thanks go to Andrea. The kids look very smart!
