Friday was a massive day for Linda Community School and Zambezi Sunrise Trust with the official opening of the new facilities (classroom and ablution block) that we have built for the school. Andrew Hamilton, the United Kingdom Deputy High Commissioner to Zambia, travelled down from Lusaka, gave the keynote speech and cut the opening ribbons with Abigail Luyako and Sabrina Mutinta, two Hi children from the school. Other speakers in the old community hall included headteacher Cathy Chilambe, Rabeccah Mukumbo from our Zambian NGO partner Dream Livingstone, our trustee John and a representative from the Department of Education. A performance of traditional drumming, dancing and singing was enjoyed by everyone before a tour of the new facilities and a demonstration class. There then followed a visit by the speakers to the Mayor of Livingstone at the Civic Centre. Huge thanks to everyone who worked so hard to make it such a memorable day!
