Things got busy today! We are delighted to announce that, at the invitation of the Mayor of Livingstone, Tiyese (‘Let’s Try’) Craft Initiative will have a stall in the presentation tent when the President of Zambia visits the city for International Women’s Day tomorrow. It is the first time that a president has marked Women’s Day (a public holiday) outside the capital since independence in 1964. This is a huge honour for the ladies of this women’s empowerment group that we helped establish in Linda compound. Josephine from the group, together with our trustees Joanne and John spent much of the day liaising with government officials and eventually setting up the stall that President Hichilema will see tomorrow. It’s not often a head of state passes by one of our craft stalls and we’re looking forward to it!
